It takes approximately 3-4 weeks of daily practice to "get" this technique
once learned, you can ground anytime. Anywhere, in a matter of seconds. I also call this: awakening to the spiritual self.
Prior to attempting to meditate, begin to practice the following:
To awaken to the spiritual self that we are, we begin first by realizing who we are;
we are spiritual beings having a human experience.
We begin to learn to greet each other with the Namaste greeting.
A Sanskrit word it means:
I honor the place in you in which the entire universe dwells.
I honor the place in you that is of truth,
of love, and of light.
When you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me, We are one,
Namaste (na mas te)
We can practice on ourselves that greeting, extending to all in our life circle.
We can instantly ground ourselves no matter where we are or what we are doing with the following easy technique:
Please note: this is not meditation, nor should it be used as such. This is a simple technique to use, when you are in need of calming or to get a grip when stress threatens to throw you in a tizzy. Sitting in a straight back chair, this can also be done in an auto, on a plane, while walking (after some practice) or any other vehicle whereby our feet are in a downward position. So that takes care of bikes, motorcycles, etc.
If you already know about the chakra energy centers, this will be a bit easier for you to grasp.
If you do not know of chakras, they are spiritual energy centers located throughout the body. There are major and minor chakras.
For our purposes, however we need only to know that we have 2 minor chakras located at the bottom of each foot, right below the ball of the foot, in the very center.
These two chakras are pointed straight downwards from our foot just like a tree whose roots are deep into mother earth; no matter how high we are actually above the earth we can ground our energy (we could be on the moon and still accomplish this technique).
Sitting in a straight backed chair close off the energy field — by putting our hands on our thighs; cupping them slightly, and connect thumb and forefinger; our energy field is now closed; through the two foot chakras we release the pent up energy, deep into mother earth.
With grounding, we feel calmer immediately.
After becoming familiar with this technique, and with much practice and when in tune, you may begin to feel the sensitive energy areas, (chakras) and that makes grounding even easier.
We have above our heads a vortex of light (similar to a halo) this is from our crown chakra — located about six inches above the head, in the area of a baby's soft spot.
For our purposes, we will visualize two kinds of light rings.
One is white — above that, golden.
We learn to breathe stress away by breathing in a calm and unhurried way.
Begin by taking in a long, cool, breath —
in through the nostrils to the count of 8; feel your lungs expanding —
feel the coolness of this breath ... the healing coolness as it cools the fire's within you.
Hold your breath to the count of 8
Do as many numbers as your untrained lungs will let you —
Release your breath to the count of eight,
slowly, out of your mouth, releasing all "hot, angry, tired, air," and toxins lurking there.
Repeat this exercise till you get it right, and calming your self becomes second nature to you.
Now that we are calm, and peaceful, we know that the light energy we are infilling with thru the top of our head — the golden/white energy is now flowing downward — throughout our body.
At the same time — all negativity is being pushed straight out of the bottom of our feet deep into mother earth, where she can best dispose of and transmute the energy for recycling. We are also pushing out of ourselves, any *dis ease*, depression or stress that we are dealing with. We are now grounded; and we allow that light to surround us.
It is our protection as we go about our daily life.
We are serene, dignified and graceful in our thoughts and action. We only need to remember this light and that it is available to us at anytime to reground ourselves no matter what is going on. Today is the first day of the rest of our lives, we can begin now to practice this and reach a new level of serenity in our daily living.
We need to make this connection about once every 4 hours — more often during times of crises or stress.
An excellent closing affirmations would be:I AM a radiant being of light or I AM pure spirit and spirit is love.
I wrote these grounding techniques 1/24/98, and have passed them on to many people, feel free to teach them to those you love.
The younger we are when we learn to ground and center ourselves the better able we are to cope with everyday life.
