Sitting in meditation after having performed the banishing rituals of the pentagram and hexagram, with some watery or Mercurial incense burning on the charcoal, imagine yourself floating in the darkness. Let your breathing be deep, slow and stready. Let yourself relax as much as possible.
Let yourself float gently downward, after a short while imagining a light far below you. As you sink further and further towards the light, let it expand into a floor tiled with pearl and azure. As your feet touch the floor, feel the coolness of the tiles on your soles. Let the Temple of Hod form around you.
Temple of Hod
The temple is octagonal, with walls draped in orange silk. Sitting upon the pearl and azure tiled floor is a octagonal altar draped in deep purple silk. In the center of the altar is an opal dish, from which rises a sacred flame. To the right of the dish on the altar is a blue chalice, filled with the waters of life. To the left of the dish is a thick book with the symbol of Mercury inscribed upon it. This is the book of knowledge.
The pillars stand on either side of the altar. To the right is a pillar of flame, to the left a pillar of cloud. They extend from the floor to the ceiling, which is of deep blue.
There are five blue doors set into the walls of the temple, each with a Hebrew letting in orange etched thereupon. A door in the East bears the letter Mem, a door in the SouthEast bears the letter Ayin, a door in the South bears the letter Peh, a door in the SouthWest bears the letter Resh, and a door behind you in the West bears the letter Shin.
Let yourself just sit in the temple for a short while, absorbing the Mercurial energy. Mentally chant ELOHIM TZABAOTH a few times.
Once you are comfortable with the temple and have meditated within it several times, and after the image of the temple comes naturally and easily, you may begin the following exercises. Do only one of the following per meditation. You may wish to do a different exercise every time, or to work with each one for a specified period of time as appropriate.
Visualize, above the altar, the symbol of the Caduceus of Hermes. Meditate on all that it represents. After a short while, imagine Mercury himself, complete with winged feet and cap, bearing the caduceus. Mentally chant MERCURIUS several times, while endeavoring to establish a connection with the Messenger of the Gods. Allow the radiant essence of Mercury penetrate unto your inner soul.
Call forth Michael, in his role as the Archangel of Hod, to the temple. Mentally intone the Archangel’s name numerous times. Michael appears dressed in orange robes with blue trim, often carrying a sword. His robe bears the image of a purple octagon on the chest, in the center of which is the symbol of Mercury. His large white wings are extended behind him.
Call forth the Beni Elohim, or the Sons of the Gods, the Choir of Angels which are associated with Hod. These Angels often appear as children, playful and animated. They have great knowledge and wisdom, however, and make excellent teachers.
If you choose to call forth Michael or the Beni Elohim, ask them questions about their own natures, the nature of the Mercurial sphere and/or Hod, and ask for personal advice regarding your own spiritual development. After you’re finished communing with them, thank them and bid them to depart to their habitations in peace, with the blessings of ELOHIM TZABAOTH.
Spend a little more time meditating in the Temple of Hod, then let the temple fade around you. Bring yourself back to your physical body and record what you’ve experienced, then again perform the banishing rituals of the hexagram and pentagram.
